Homarus Ltd is lead by Patrick Franklin BSc, a marine biologist with 28 years international experience in the fields of aquaculture, fisheries, the marine environment and pollution.  Patrick has eight years practical grounding in the aquaculture industry working in Australia, UK and Ecuador.  His consulting activities encompass aquaculture and inshore fisheries development, strategic analysis, business planning, production economics and markets and has worked in 26 countries.  Through his experience over the last 18 years he has become probably the UK’s leading specialist in the evaluation of economic losses to fisheries and aquaculture operations caused by external factors, such as shipping accidents, (collision and pollution), coastal engineering and offshore energy installations.  Patrick has much experience in managing complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams.  
 
Assisting with company activities is a group of affiliated specialists who are highly experienced and respected in their fields:

Martin Esseen

  • BSc Marine Zoology,  MSc Fisheries Biology and Management
  • 17 years commercial fishing
  • International experience in fisheries resource appraisal and management, extensive survey work of fishing fleet activities, institutional strengthening, research fishing, assessment of economic impacts and compensation issues, environmental impact assessments

Patrick White

  • BSc Biology
  • 27 years international experience in aquaculture industry
  • Hatchery and marine cage production, technical trouble-shooting, strategic and  feasibility studies, particularly Mediterranean species, latterly Norway and Asia
  • Oil spill impact assessment

Donald Gibson

  • BSc Biochemistry, PhD  Microbial Biochemistry
  • 30 years governmental R&D in fish handling and preservation, latterly Head of Microbiology at MAFF Torry Research Station
  • 10 years international advisory experience on fish cargo issues and inspection of fish and shellfish processing plants with respect to HACCP and compliance with EU hygiene regulations.

Tony Seymour

We continue to be saddened by the sudden death of Tony in  September 2005, aged 57.   He was an outstanding fisheries professional who was well respected by everybody he came into contact with.  He was also a good friend.   Anybody interested in contributing to a memorial to Tony's life to be constructed in his much-loved Malawi, please contact Patrick Franklin
